WENTZELEE BOTHA, ESQ.

Ms. Botha is Managing Partner at Brown & Winters. She focuses her practice mainly on environmental litigation and regulatory proceedings, environmental insurance coverage litigation, and intellectual property. She is particularly involved in the current investigation and remediation of contaminated sediment in the San Diego Bay under various San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board Cleanup and Abatement Orders and other regulatory actions. She focuses on project management involving expert interfacing regarding environmental forensics, sediment transportation and deposition, 3D modeling, and toxicology. Ms. Botha further participates in protecting the interests of the firm’s public entity-clients under the Clean Water Act’s Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) programs and the California State Water Resources Control Board’s Sediment Quality Objective programs. She also specializes in assisting public entities in the procurement of historic insurance proceeds for coverage of legal or regulatory claims arising out of pollution by current or historic toxic wastes releases. Ms. Botha further assists clients in intellectual property matters including patents, trademarks, and copyrights and general intellectual property litigation.

Ms. Botha is admitted to practice in California and before the Unites States Patent and Trademark Office, United States Court of Appeals, Federal Circuit, United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, and Southern and Central District Courts of California.

She is a 1999 graduate of California Western School of Law and obtained a B.S. undergraduate and post graduate degree from the University of Port Elizabeth, South Africa, in Biochemistry and Marine Biology.
